Mushroom Plugs for Sale – Uninoculated

Uninoculated Mushroom Plugs are a highly reliable substrate for growing many mushroom species. These 5/16″ X 1″ spiral groove, birch dowel pin (birch plugs) work well when mixed with your favorite spawn master.

Wood-loving mushroom varieties love these birch plugs, and since we sell them uninoculated, you are free to choose any wood-loving species you like.

Please Note: These birch pins are Uninoculated Mushroom Plugs.  They contain no mycelium or mushroom spawn.  You must make or purchase a spawn master of some kind to colonize these plugs.   Consider grain spawn or some other fully colonized medium to spread growth on the plugs.

To use, hydrate the dowels by soaking in water for 24 hours. Sterilized in a pressure cooker or autoclave at 15 PSI for 90 minutes before inoculating.

Pro Tip: If you use a pressure cooker to sterilize your plugs, let them properly cool before adding any colonized spawn.  Or if you decide to pasteurize, let cool and drain before adding any spawn.

Last but not least, these are clean, birch plugs that are uninoculated.  This means that the mushroom plugs for sale have no growth at all.
