Sphagnum Peat Moss
Our 16 Dry Quart Bags of Sphagnum Peat Moss equals 5.5 pounds or 8 half-gallon bags!
Peat Moss is used widely in the production of mushroom casing layers, substrate fillers, and acts as a moisture retainer and aerator. This variety is of the highest quality and is not dried out nor does it consist of overly decayed material.
Don’t Forget:
- Hydrated Lime for your casings.
- Vermiculite for substrates, casings and moisture retention.
Sphagnum Peat Moss can be used for outdoor grows with shiitake mushroom logs or most forms of mushroom cultivating. For example, while growing shiitake mushrooms peat moss can be used as a casing layer. Shiitake growing in a mushroom patch or log-based grow can protect mycelium to some degree. If you already grow shiitake mushrooms the peat will also keep the ground below your logs moist. If you’re new to growing shiitake mushrooms or you want to learn how to grow gourmet mushrooms most will start off using spawn bags along with bulk rye grain. From there is where the fun really begins!
