Watch Glasses – Beaker Covers
These useful little chemistry tools have a multitude of uses. They are often used as beaker lids, to view thick tissue cultures under microscopes or as spore collectors for printmaking.
Most mushroom growers will use watch glasses to capture a spore print. The concave shape of the glass makes a perfect container for catching the spores. Since the shape of the glass is rounded and can catch any spores. It also allows the mushrooms cap to properly dry since air is able to flow freely. By the time your mushroom cap has dried, you will have millions of spores collected and ready for storage. Or you can add distilled water to the spores and quickly make a spore syringe.
If you are using these as a beaker cover, they work great for covering beakers full of liquid culture. Simply place on the mouth opening of the beaker and done! If the beaker cover gets dirty, it is dishwasher safe (or you could just wash by hand).
